The Department of Human Services Social Club chose the Tuggeranong Men’s Shed as their fund raising focus for 2019 as they said we did excellent work for the community. The social club kindly donated $700 and a variety of hand tools.
At the AMSA Conference in Adelaide during September, the Tuggeranong Men’s Shed won the 2019 Unique Fundraising Activity for our Tornado Potatoes. We provide tornado potatoes at school fetes and sporting activities, church fairs etc. At a polling station for the last Federal Election we changed the name and served ‘Democracy Potatoes’. Fundraising is but part of the aim of the activity but by no means the most important reason. Building camaraderie between shed members is very important for us as is being out and seen in the community.
